Cinema Magic June 5 & 6 - Important Info!

Dear Parents,

As we approach our Cinema Magic Recital, here are a few things to expect over the next few weeks. The health and safety of our dancers and dance families is of the utmost importance to us. All Covid protocols and safety measures will be in place. Students will enter the theatre in small groups to limit crossovers.

Cinema Magic – Dance Extraordinaire for the 2021 Allegro Recitals will be held at the Charlie White Theatre in the Mary Winspear Centre - Sidney. If you haven’t done so already, please check the Cinema Magic show order to confirm your class day and time at the Charlie White Theatre: https://www.allegroperformingartscentre.com/recital **Note, There will be no regular scheduled classes at Allegro on June 5 and June 6, due to Cinema Magic**

Recital–What to expect when you arrive:

1.    Please arrive at the Theatre lobby entrance, which is the designated drop off for the theatre (we will meet you OUTSIDE, please do not come inside). Please arrive wearing a mask, and remain 3 meters from everyone at all times.

2.    When you arrive at the Charlie White Theatre an Allegro faculty member will greet you outside at the Theatre lobby entrance. Only 1 parent per dancer/family please.

3.    Dancers will be asked to sign in - by signing in you are indicating that you have read the Covid-19 health screening questionnaire and confirm that you are in good health and do not have any symptoms of Covid-19.

4.    At sign in dancers will receive their black disposable mask for the stage (1 mask per day). In accordance with the government of BC health guidelines and the Mary Winspear rules and regulations, masks must be worn at all times, by all ages.

5.    All dancers will continue in to the building with their teacher, Sorry – No parents/caregivers may enter.

6.    Parents, please wait at your car in the parking lot or go for a nice walk until the end of your dancer’s session time. Unfortunately parents are not permitted to gather outside while they wait for their dancer.

7.    Dancers will move to the stage area for their performance and professional video recording.

 8.    Once we are finished on stage, their teacher will escort dancers out the exit door along the back of the Mary Winspear Centre.

9.    Parents may meet their dancer at the back of the building (exit door is located near the theatre garage door) at the end of their session time.

10. Dancers will line up for pick up along the long wall at the back, it would be helpful to sign your dancer out in the same order they are lined up in.

11. ALL Dancers 10 and under must Be signed out by a parent or guardian.

Preparing for Cinema Magic

  • Please bring only what you need for your dance. Everything must fit in to 1 small duffel bag, garment bag or backpack. If you have a tutu or ballet skirt please hang and carry it.

  • Arrive in your costume with your hair and make-up done. (If you have more than 1 costume in the same session, arrive in your first costume and bring your second).

  • Check that you have the correct shoes, tights and costume pieces for your performance.

  • All dancers must leave between sessions, unless you have a dance in the following session. All dancers are required to have a parent/guardian responsible for picking them up promptly.

  • Girls: As always- if you are in more than 1 class, having a nude suit to wear under all your costumes is highly recommended.

Costumes and Dress Rehearsal at Allegro – Dress Rehearsal is being held At Allegro the week of Friday, May 28 –  Thursday, June 3, 2021. This will take place during our regular class, in our regular scheduled class time AT ALLEGRO. All costume pieces that are provided by Allegro will be sent home on this date. If you are unable to be in class that week, please contact Allegro to make arrangements to pick up your costume. If there are pieces that you need to provide yourself, please bring them to the studio dress rehearsal! See Costume chart for details. Remember, items in green text are provided by Allegro. Items in black text are to be provided by the dancer.

Make-up – Yes please, but for Cinema Magic only. Please no make-up at the dress rehearsal that takes place during our regular class time, we would like to keep our costumes clean and fancy.

Why Make-up? The stage lights can wash out the faces of the dancers; We encourage you to brighten their faces with a bit of blush and a natural eye shadow (add liner and mascara, if you/they would like).  For Full Make-Up details and instructions please visit https://www.allegroperformingartscentre.com/recital (We understand some parents may wish for their preschooler not to wear make-up, which is a personal choice that we will of course respect).

NO EATING OR DRINKING IN YOUR COSTUME!!!

Photos & Last Week of classes - June 7-12 – Normally we have Lifetouch Canada come into the studios the week after our recitals to capture our dances with their class and in costumes. Unfortunately this isn’t something that we can do this year due to Covid-19. Allegro will be taking a group Photo of each of our classes IN COSTUME during the last week of dance (June 7- 12, 2021) AT ALLEGRO. Please wear your costume to class during the last week of dance. We will make them available digitally to all families shortly after Cinema Magic. These are not professional photos, but they will be a wonderful keepsake.

Looking forward to our big show!
