Requirements: Performing Arts (P.A) Plus
Students enter Performing Arts Plus (PA Plus) upon recommendation from their teacher. This program is designed for students wishing to cross-train in multiple disciplines at a competitive level of dance.
Ballet is required to progress through the core subjects of the PA Plus Program, and is recommended, but not required for Performing Arts Plus Hip Hop and Musical Theatre. Students will be placed in the correct level according to their age and level of experience.
Most PA Plus classes participate in 2 Dance competitions per year, plus our annual Dance Extravaganza and year-end Recitals. Teachers reserve the right to make the decision as to which PA Plus classes will participate in Competition (some might not be quite ready and will work towards it as a goal for the following season). Competition entry fee invoices are billed to families by email and are due in December. Teachers reserve the right to cancel Competition entries if the dancers are unprepared.
Competitions will likely take place during school hours. Most school teachers are very supportive of our dancers around this time. PA Plus and Peninsula Young Performers (PYP) students agree to perform at Competitions exclusively with Allegro Performing Arts Centre.
Recommended Core Subjects
Ballet is required to progress through the Core Subjects of the PA Plus Program. All other classes listed in the Recommended Core Subjects are recommended, but optional.
Level Primary 3: Ballet, Tap, Jazz (grade 2)—teacher's discretion
Level 1: Ballet, Tap, Jazz (grade 3)—teacher's discretion
Level 2: Ballet, Tap, Jazz
Level 3–4: Ballet (2x per week), Tap, Jazz, Jazz Tech
Level 5-8: Ballet (2x per week), Tap, Jazz, Jazz Tech, Pointe
Senior: Ballet (2x per week), Tap, Jazz, Jazz Tech, Pointe
