Allegro COVID-19 Update

UPDATED JUNE 2

To our amazing dance families:

It has filled our hearts to see so many of our dancers enjoying our Zoom & Pre-recorded dance classes. We hope they are having fun and that it's a nice break from home schooling and working from home.

June classes: We will continue to offer online classes, using the same schedule and platform as May: Pre-recorded classes for our younger students, Zoom for our older students.  Our last day of online & pre-recorded classes will be Saturday, June 13, this is the same as our original end of season date. Students can take any or all of the class options that were sent to them by email!

June tuition fees will be discounted as they were in May - $49 for individuals, $69 for families.

Costumes: All costumes for our Recital were custom ordered for each student before the Pandemic; costume production begins in October at the time costume deposits are due. They have been paid for by Allegro on behalf of each dancer and are either in transit or have already arrived. We are asking our dance families to please pay the balance of their costume(s) for their dancer(s), and you would receive your costumes when they are ready for safe pick up. A costume deposit was paid at the time of registration, but as you were advised upon registration, costumes typically range from $90-$110 each. Families have been emailed an invoice for their costume balance. We will be accepting costume balance payments by e-transfer, so that it is contactless and easy! Please note: Allegro does not make a profit from the sale of costumes. Thank you so much for understanding - we would like to incorporate the costumes in our year-end celebration, and we will keep you posted as our plans move forward!

On a personal note, a disruption like this has been devastating to our business, and as we all know, many other small businesses as well. Allegro has always strived to provide exceptional training at an affordable rate. We are here for our dancers, not for profit. We love our dance families and we are in this business for our students - to teach them, share our love of performing arts and watch them grow from toddlers to adults. We can’t thank our families enough for continuing to support us through this difficult time. We appreciate our dance community now more than ever! We plan to return better and stronger than ever for Summer classes and then back again in the Fall - stay tuned! ❤️

ALLEGRO’S YEAR-END CELEBRATION! We are excited to announce our year end celebration plans for Allegro! Although we are very saddened by this being our first time in 19 years without a year end Recital, we are so thankful to still be able to celebrate the end of the dance season with our amazing students, teachers and families - COVID-19 style!

We are planning to create a year-end video montage for our Allegro families, which will include clips of each dancer doing their favourite dance move or steps in costume! We will be sharing the video with our Allegro families as soon as it is complete. ALSO we will be preparing photo slide shows of each dancer in each of their costumes. Read on for more details!

Join us for our year end celebration, here’s how it’s going to look!

  • Families will sign up for a 20 minute time slot to visit Allegro on June 25, 26, or 27 (sign up genius link coming soon). You choose the time that works best for your dancer(s) and 1 parent. This will ensure that we will be following the current Covid-19 rules and regulations by only have a few families at Allegro at a time. It will cut down on wait times and help you get in and out in a quick and timely manner, at a time that works with your schedule. We ask that only 1 parent accompanies their dancer to Allegro.

  • We will have 3 physically distanced, outdoor stations for each dancer/family to visit, as well as 2 indoor stations in Studio 1

Station 1: Recital Costume pick up - balances will be pre-paid by e-transfer to ensure contactless payment (costume balance due date June 9)

Station 2: Students will receive a small gift of love and appreciation from us to your dancer

Station 3: If you are a 5, 10, 15, 20 year dancer, please stop here for your Trophy and/or medal pick up (remember, dancers must have already signed up for their trophy or medal by emailing us).

Station 4 in Studio 1: Video clip in costume for our video montage! Once you have visited all 3 outdoor stations, students will be invited one at a time to come through the dressing room to put on the Recital costume of their choice (pick 1 if you have multiple costumes). There will be an Adult in the dressing room sanitizing between each student. Students are asked to wear basic dance clothes (such as a body suit or nude suit) underneath your street clothes so you can quickly put your Recital costume over top. One Parent may accompany the younger dancers to help. Once you are in your costume, you will head in to Studio 1 with one parent/guardian (one student at a time or with your sibling), where an Allegro faculty member will take a short, but very sweet video clip of your dancer doing their favourite dance move(s) in their favourite costume! This will be added to the video montage that we will send out to all families as a keepsake!

Station 5 also in Studio 1: Photo op! Dancer poses in front of Allegro’s new custom backdrop - photos are taken by parent with your own camera.

We will also be creating a digital photo slide show of our dancers in each of their costumes. These photos will be taken from your own home, so that students who have multiple costumes can do this from the comfort of their own home, and also so that we know we are using photos that are parent and student approved:) Parents take the photo in each costume at home and then email the picture to us, and we will put the special keepsake slide show together for everyone. Full instructions coming soon.

For now, please mark the following dates on your calendar for our year-end celebration, we will send out the sign up genius link soon! Each family will only need to attend one day, one time! We will be organized, and you should move fairly quickly from one station to another, as there will be limited numbers of families during each time slot. You should expect to be at the studio for about 30 minutes only!

Families sign up for 1 twenty minute slot that works with your schedule (sign up schedule coming soon):

Thursday, June 25 - 4:00 - 8:00 pm

Friday, June 26 - 4:00 - 8:00 pm

Saturday, June 27 - 9:30 am - 1:30 pm

  • Please do not email us to sign up for a time slot now, you need to please wait until the sign up link is sent out.

You should have received an invoice for your costume balance by email. The invoice says due May 31, however that date has passed now, so the due date is June 9. Please send costume balance payments by e-transfer to laarnold@telus.net by no later than June 9.
