NOVEMBER/DECEMBER 2011

Clothing Orders – view the clothing order here: http://www.allegroperformingartscentre.com/ Payments and order forms are due by Saturday, Nov.12th.  All clothing will have the Allegro Artwork.  Check out our samples in the office during office hours.  And check out our dance bags and NEW kids’ jackets.  Great Christmas ideas!

Dance Attire – Please make sure that your dancer is coming to class with appropriate dance attire.  Please visit our website and click on ‘Dance Attire’ if you are unsure of the correct attire.  Ballet students must wear tights, bodysuits and their hair in a bun.  Please wear leg warmers or tight ballet sweaters to warm-up.  Hoodies and other shirts are not permitted for warm up; ballet sweaters only. Parents of ballet students:  A great gift idea for Christmas is a ballet sweater for your dancer.  This will keep them warm and please their teacher!  These can be purchased at any dance store. ¨Pre-School Attire – Parents of Pre-Schoolers, please make sure that your dancer is wearing the correct attire to their class (see registration manual or website for correct attire).  It is very important that dancers have proper fitting dance shoes.

Facebook – Allegro is on Facebook!  Find us and click “Like” to receive all of our facebook updates and more! Find us here: https://www.facebook.com/pages/Allegro-Performing-Arts-Centre/139306069414882

Open House – Allegro’s open house will be from Tuesday, December 6th – Monday, December 12th.  We welcome you to come and view the classes of your choice. PYP Company classes are not open for viewing week.  A non-perishable food donation for the Food Hamper would be very much appreciated.  Thank you!  Christmas Holidays are from Tuesday, December 13th-Monday, January 2nd.  We re-open on Tuesday, January 3rd.  PLEASE NOTE the typo in our registration manual – these are the correct dates.

Overdue Payments - Thank-you to everyone who is up to date with their payments. Anyone who still has outstanding fees and/or costume deposits should be getting them in to the office as soon as possible.  This is a reminder that a fee of 2% per month will be charged to all outstanding accounts.

Withdrawals - We hope that everyone has settled nicely in to their classes.  This is a friendly reminder that all notices of withdrawal must be submitted in writing to the office (email is fine) by November 30th, 2011, with one month's notice or one month's fees as a requirement.  After November 30th, it is expected that dancers will remain in their class(es) for the duration of the dance year; and you are committed financially until the end of the dance year – June, 2012.

Festival – Most Performing Arts Plus classes participate in Festival.  All Festival classes perform in the Dance Extravaganza on February 25th (Dress Rehearsal February 24th).  If you are unsure if this involves your child, please check with your child’s teacher to see if it is a Festival class. Festival dates are available here:  www.allegroperformingartscentre.com/festival.  Or, go to our website, find the ‘News’ link and click on ‘Festival.’  If your child is involved in Festival, we ask that you please avoid booking vacations during Festival time.  Festival entry fees will be billed to parents in February, before the Dance Extravaganza.  Any questions regarding Festival can be answered by emailing info@allegroperformingartscentre.com

Snow Days and Power Outages – Our policy is that if the school buses are not running, then Allegro will be closed.  If school is cancelled due to poor weather conditions, Allegro may also be closed.  If you are ever in doubt, please phone 250-656-8910 to listen to our voicemail message or visit www.allegroperformingartscentre.com.  Please do the same in the event of a power outage.

Kitchen – Students: It is a privilege to have the kitchen, fridge and microwave at your disposal during your breaks.  Dancers, please respect our kitchen area.  DO NOT leave dirty plates and cutlery in the kitchen, and CLEAN UP YOUR MESS when you are finished eating.  PLEASE DO NOT leave food in the fridge overnight and DO NOT BRING POPCORN TO THE STUDIO.

Emergency Exits and Fire Safety – In case of fire or any other emergency, please note that there are 2 exit doors in the school: the main exit at the front of the school, as well as the Emergency exit located at the back of the school next to Studio 4.  Our teachers are prepared and know what to do in the event of an Emergency, but it’s also a good idea for parents to review this with their dancers.  In the event of an emergency, the meeting place is on the field behind the school.

Students & Parents- Absolutely NO OUTDOOR SHOES in any of the dance studios!  Our dance floors are designed for dance shoes only. All outdoor shoes must be left in the dressing room or waiting room.  Hip-Hop dancers MUST wear clean, indoor shoes to class. Please remove all outdoor shoes in the front entry.  Our dancers walk through the halls in their dance shoes and bare feet.  Please help us to prevent the floors becoming wet and slippery or causing damage to our dance shoes…..THANK YOU!

Used Allegro – If you are interested in buying or selling used dance wear, you can do so through the Allegro website.  Just email the content of your ad with a contact number and your email address and we will post it on our website for approximately 6 weeks.  After that period of time the ad will be removed and you will need to request that the ad to be re-posted if your item has not sold yet.  If you sell your item please let us know so that we can remove your ad.  Please do not contact Allegro for details on advertised items.  You can contact each other directly using the contact information in your ads.  Send ads to allegro@shaw.ca and we will upload them as soon as possible.  Check out what’s for sale here: http://www.allegroperformingartscentre.com/used-allegro.

Dance Extraordinaire 2012 (RECITALS) - This year’s annual recitals will be held on Saturday, June 2nd and Sunday, June 3rd, 2012.  There will be an all day dress rehearsal on Sunday, May 27th.  These dates are extremely important, so please mark them on your calendar, as everybody at the studio participates in the rehearsal and the performances (some adult classes opt not to participate). If your child is unable to perform in the recital, it is very important that you inform your teacher(s) before November 1st.  Please know that in order to dance in the recital you must attend the dress rehearsal!  2012 venue is THE ROYAL THEATRE.
